How to Configure Custom Fields

Configuration

Before configuring the custom field, make sure you have added a Group Alias Picker Field.

Not sure how? Refer to  How to Add Custom Fields for more information.


  1. Go to Settings > Issues > Custom fields

  2. Search for the Group Alias Picker Field from the field list

  3. “Configure” this Group Alias Picker field

  4. Click on "Edit Group Alias Mapping"

  5. In the Group Alias Mapping page, define the list of Jira “Group Name” and their corresponding “Alias”

Usage

  1. Place the field in the desired Jira screen(s)

  2. Jira configuration(s) where applicable:

    1. Permission scheme

    2. Issue Security scheme

    3. Notification scheme

    4. Workflow condition

  3. JQL search syntax:

    1. "Group Alias Field" is (not) EMPTY

    2. "Group Alias Field" (!)= "Alias"

    3. "Group Alias Field" (!)= "actual Jira group name"

    4. "Field Name" (not) in ("Alias_1", "Alias_2", ..., "Alias_#")

  4. Report – Dashboard gadgets:

    1. "Columns to display" in gadgets showing filter results

    2. "Statistic Type" or "Axis" field
