Attachments Housekeeping Policy Template

1. Purpose:
To ensure efficient use of storage and maintain system performance by regularly removing outdated, unused, or redundant attachments.
2. Scope
The default housekeeping policy applies to all attachments uploaded to Jira issues across all projects.
3. Retention Rules

4. Exclusions
- Projects which are linked to audits, legal, or compliance reviews are excluded - Project Admins can opt out by selecting “Exclude from Housekeeping” in the Jira project settings 
 
- Issues can be individually excluded for housekeeping by labelling the issue with "important" explicitly 
5. Retention Period
- All marked attachments are soft deleted for 90 days before final deletion 
6. Review Frequency
- There is a monthly scheduled job to mark the attachments for deletion 
- Project Admins can review the marked attachments and adjust the housekeeping policy accordingly
